This is what riders say about our exercise rugs

I feel much more comfortable in the dark with the LED exercise rug. The lights can be seen from far away and cars noticeably slow down earlier.

Just what we were missing for cold days. The exercise rug is quick to put on and keeps the back pleasantly warm during the ride.

Exercise rugs for horses – protected on the go in wind, rain, and darkness

Our exercise sheets protect the back, loins, and croup from wind and rain while riding. Depending on the model, reflective elements or integrated LEDs provide additional visibility at dusk and in the dark.

When is an exercise sheet useful?

An exercise sheet is not just intended for long hacks. It can be useful anywhere you want to protect your horse under the saddle from wind, rain, or rapid cooling.

  • In rain and changeable weather – A waterproof exercise sheet keeps precipitation off the back, loins, and croup, while leaving sufficient space for the saddle and rider.
  • While warming up on cool days – Especially at the beginning of training, an exercise sheet can help protect the back from cold wind until the muscles are fully warmed up.
  • For clipped horses – After clipping, a large part of the natural coat insulation is missing. An exercise sheet specifically protects the large muscle groups on the back from wind and weather.
  • During longer walking phases – Heat production is lower at a walk than during more intensive work. A light sheet can therefore be particularly useful before and after the working phase.
  • At dusk and in the dark – Reflective details improve visibility. An LED exercise sheet provides additional active illumination and is particularly suitable for poor light conditions.
  • While warming up in hand or on a horse walker – A model with a removable saddle cover is practical if the saddle is already on and the seat area also needs to be protected from rain.

The benefits of a high-quality exercise rug

Our exercise rugs combine weather protection, freedom of movement, and comfort for your horse. Thanks to functional materials and well-thought-out details, they are reliably suitable for training, hacks, and changeable weather conditions.

Targeted weather protection

The back, loins, and croup remain protected from rain and wind without having to fully cover your horse as with a classic outdoor rug.

Protection of warmed-up muscles

Especially during warm-ups, in walk phases, or after intense work, the exercise sheet keeps direct cold wind away from the large muscle groups.

Free movement under saddle

The special cut provides sufficient room for the saddle, rider, and hindquarters. This allows your horse to move freely even while wearing a rug.

Breathable during movement

Water vapor and excess heat can escape. This is how the exercise rug combines weather protection with the necessary moisture exchange while riding.

More visibility

Reflective elements make horse and rider more visible in low light. Depending on the model, integrated LEDs supplement passive visibility with active illumination.

Practical features depending on the model

Removable saddle cover, adjustable closures, or LED lighting expand the range of use and make our exercise sheets functional companions for training and hacking.

Why we choose these materials and features

For our exercise sheets, we combine robust ripstop outer materials with reliable rain protection and good breathability. A water column of, for example, 5,000 mm means that the material can withstand the pressure of a five-meter-high water column during testing. At the same time, at 3,000 g/m², up to 3,000 g of water vapor per square meter can escape to the outside within 24 hours. The soft fleece lining adds pleasant comfort to the horse's back to complement the weather protection.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about exercise rugs

When does my horse need an exercise sheet?

Especially in wind, rain, and cool temperatures. It can be useful when hacking, warming up, and during longer walking phases.

Is an exercise sheet the same as a quarter sheet?

The terms are often used similarly. The decisive factor is the cut: both mainly protect the back, loins, and croup and are designed for use while riding.

Can I also use an exercise sheet for warming up?

Yes. Especially in cool temperatures, it can protect the back and lower back from direct wind during the warm-up phase.

What does 0g mean for an exercise sheet?

0 g means that no additional filling is used, but the fleece lining can still retain warmth on the back.

What is the difference between reflectors and LEDs?

Reflectors throw incident light back. The LEDs of the "New York" light up themselves, thus providing additional visibility even without direct illumination.

Can the saddle cover remain on the saddle while riding?

The detachable saddle cover of the "Derby" is intended for situations such as cooling down or the horse walker and is removed before mounting.
