Did you know that...
there is hardly any protective musculature below the carpal joint? Tendons, ligaments, and bones run comparatively close under the skin there. Especially when jumping, when the legs are quickly bent, stretched, and brought close together, grazing or direct impacts can therefore be particularly unpleasant. Open-front jumping boots protect these very sensitive areas from external impact.

FAQ
What do open-front boots protect the horse's leg from?
Open-front boots primarily protect against external injuries caused by brushing, overreaching, impacts, or contact with jumps. The padding and shock-absorbing mesh help to absorb impact forces and protect sensitive areas on the front leg. This targeted leg protection is particularly useful when show jumping.
What is the difference between open-front boots and fetlock boots?
Open-front boots are generally worn on the front legs and primarily protect the area along the tendons and the cannon bone. Fetlock boots are designed for the hind legs and specifically protect the inside of the fetlock area from brushing and overreaching.
Can open-front boots prevent tendon injuries?
They can protect the tendons from injuries caused by external impacts such as brushing, kicks, or knocks, thereby reducing the risk of injury. However, boots cannot completely prevent overuse injuries caused by high internal forces within the tendon tissue.
How should open-front boots fit correctly?
The boots should fit snugly and evenly on the horse's leg without cutting in or restricting the movement of the fetlock joint. They must not twist or slip down while riding. The fasteners should be adjusted evenly on both legs.
Why does the boot combine leather, neoprene, and a shock-absorbing mesh?
The materials perform different functions. The genuine leather provides a robust exterior, the soft neoprene provides cushioning against the horse's leg, and the integrated mesh distributes impact forces over a larger area. This provides protection without making the boot unnecessarily rigid.
Can open-front boots be used in competitions?
Leg protection is generally permitted in show jumping, although there are specific requirements depending on the class and the design. The German Equestrian Federation (FN) defines which leg protection is permitted at national competitions in its annually updated equipment catalog. You should therefore check the currently applicable regulations for your class before you start.
Security Information
- Use only for the intended purpose as leg protection for horses.
- Check for damage, tears, loose seams, worn padding, or defective fasteners before each use.
- Do not apply to open wounds, skin injuries, or irritated areas of the skin.
- Do not continue to use the tendon boots if they are damaged or show significant wear.
- Check the fit regularly to avoid pressure points, chafing, or restricted blood circulation.
- Do not fasten too tightly – sufficient freedom of movement of the limbs must be guaranteed.
- Clean and let dry after each use to prevent skin irritation or material damage.
- Maintain leather regularly to prevent it from drying out or cracking.
- Let wet leather dry at room temperature; do not place on radiators or in direct sunlight.

Description
- Integrated shock-absorbing mesh - innovative protective structure against strikes and impacts: The special mesh acts like flexible protective armor on the horse's leg. Its structure distributes impact forces over a larger area instead of letting them act on a single point. This allows strikes and impacts to be specifically absorbed while the material remains flexible, preserving your horse's freedom of movement.
- Ergonomic fit - follows the natural shape of the leg: The tendon boots fit anatomically against the front leg and remain stable in position even during dynamic movement. This provides protection without unnecessarily restricting mobility.
- Reduces impact loads - additional protection during takeoff and landing: High forces act on the front legs within a very short time during jumping. The combination of shock-absorbing mesh, neoprene, and targeted padding helps to absorb external loads and protect sensitive areas.
- Individually adjustable closures with elastic inserts - securely fitted instead of point-fixed: The closures can be adjusted to fit the horse's leg and ensure even support. Elastic inserts give flexibly during movement and support a secure, comfortable fit without exerting unnecessary pressure on individual areas.
- Targeted padding for sensitive areas - protection where it is most important: Particularly vulnerable areas are deliberately more heavily padded. This allows knocks, self-striking, and contact with obstacles to be better absorbed and reduces the risk of injury.
- High-quality genuine leather - durable with a sophisticated look: The robust natural material reliably withstands the demands of show jumping and remains supple with proper care. At the same time, genuine leather gives the boots a high-quality, classic appearance.
- Soft neoprene padding - comfortable fit on the horse's leg: The flexible neoprene adapts to the shape of the leg and cushions between the leather outer side and the horse's leg. This reduces pressure and friction while the tendon boot fits securely.
- Practical storage bag - neatly stowed and quickly at hand: The matching bag protects your equipment from dust and dirt when not in use and ensures tidy storage in the stable, locker, or horsebox. At the same time, you can keep the products together compactly and take them with you conveniently to training or tournaments.
