the heat from our heating blanket not only penetrates directly into the deeper muscle layers, but can also be used anywhere? Unlike a permanently installed solarium, which only radiates the surface and is tied to one location, the therapy blanket distributes the heat evenly over the horse's entire back and acts exactly where it is needed. A solarium works with infrared radiation that hits the horse from a certain distance. Due to fur, skin thickness, and uneven irradiation, however, the heat usually only reaches the upper layers of the skin before being released back to the outside. The heating blanket, on the other hand, lies in direct contact with the horse's body – the heat is transferred conductively without being weakened by air or fur beforehand. This promotes blood circulation, supports the removal of metabolic waste products, and effectively relieves tension. This way, the horse not only receives the benefits of professional heat therapy but also the flexibility to use it at any time and in any place.

What is the difference compared to an equine solarium?

A solarium uses infrared radiation that hits the horse's body from above and primarily warms the skin surface. The effect remains predominantly superficial, as radiant heat can only penetrate deeper tissue layers to a limited extent and is also partially reflected or weakened by fur, skin density, and ambient air. Our heating blanket, on the other hand, relies on direct contact heat: the heating coils are positioned close to the body and transfer heat directly into the tissue. As a result, heat is distributed evenly across the entire back and can penetrate the musculature much more effectively. Studies show that contact heat can be two to three times more effective at warming deep muscle layers compared to superficial infrared radiation. There is also a practical advantage: while a solarium is permanently installed and tethered to a power outlet, the heating blanket can be used mobile, flexibly, and almost anywhere thanks to its battery – whether in the stable, during transport, or while warming up before training.

Can the heating blanket be used on a wet horse?

Yes. The heating coils are equipped with a special coating, making them resistant to water. Wetness and moisture therefore pose no risk. Nevertheless, we recommend covering the horse only when it is slightly damp or dry if possible, as the heat works more efficiently and can penetrate deeper into the musculature when the fur is dry.

Can the heating blanket be used during transport?

Yes, the therapy blanket is portable and is perfectly suited for transport. It ensures that the muscles do not cool down and the horse remains relaxed.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

The charging time is approximately 6 hours. This deliberate "slow charging" is for safety and extends the lifespan of the battery.

Can the battery be left in the heating blanket while charging?

Yes, the battery can either be charged inside the heating blanket via the hidden cable or removed and connected separately.

Is a replacement battery available?

Yes, an additional battery is also available separately – ideal if you want to use multiple batteries in rotation.

Can the heating blanket be used over another horse rug?

Yes, the heating blanket can be worn over a lightweight rug if additional protection against wet or dirt is required. It is important that the bottom rug is breathable so that heat does not build up.

Can the heating blanket be washed?

No. The therapy blanket is not suitable for machine washing, as the battery connections and heating coils are not designed for a wash cycle. For cleaning, a damp cloth or soft brush is sufficient to remove hair, dust, or light dirt.

Why is the heating blanket insulated and what exactly are thermal bridges?

Thermal bridges occur wherever insulation is interrupted or the material has been processed more thinly. Heat escapes more quickly from these areas, and cold can even penetrate from the outside. In a heating blanket, this would result in an uneven heating effect, meaning certain areas would not be treated optimally. Our heating blanket is therefore fully insulated in the back area so that no thermal bridges are created. The heat remains evenly within the tissue and can act constantly over the entire back – exactly where it is needed.
