Lungeing rugs can positively support a horse's biomechanical activity? Without protection, the back muscles often react to cold or wet weather with unconscious tension, which leads to shorter strides, less impulsion, and a generally stiffer topline. A lightweight, breathable rain rug keeps the superficial muscles warm and dry, so the horse is not occupied with protective reflexes but can work loosely over the back from the very beginning. This makes training sessions in bad weather not only more pleasant, but biomechanically often even more efficient than without a horse rug.

Is the lunging rug waterproof?

With a water column of 3,000 mm, the rug offers reliable protection against rain and moisture. It keeps the horse dry even during longer downpours while remaining breathable, allowing heat to escape.

What does “1200D Ripstop” mean and why is it important?

1200D refers to the strength and weave of the lunging rug. It indicates the material density of the fabric, where “D” stands for denier, a unit of measurement for fiber thickness. Ripstop describes a special weaving technique in which reinforced fibers are woven into a grid pattern. This structure prevents small tears from spreading, making the lunging rug more durable and resistant to damage. These properties are particularly important to ensure that the walker rug lasts a long time and is not easily damaged even under heavy use, such as in pasture turnout or with horses that move around a lot.

How is breathability ensured?

The breathability of our lunging rug is ensured by the Ripstop fabric used, which has an air permeability of 3,000 g/m². This allows moisture and heat to escape from the horse while simultaneously keeping moisture out. This is why it is important that rain rugs do not have a water column exceeding 5,000 mm. A higher water column would impair breathability, causing the horse to sweat quickly under the walker rug.

What does 3,000 g/m² breathability mean?

This figure describes how well moisture (e.g., sweat) is transported through the material to the outside to ensure a comfortable climate for the horse. In this case, 3,000 grams of water vapor can escape per square meter of material within a day. This keeps the horse dry and avoids overheating or moisture buildup.

Can moisture or heat build up under the lunging rug?

Thanks to the high breathability of our walker rug and the Ripstop fabric technology used, no moisture or heat can build up under the rug. The lunging rug allows for effective ventilation, so excess heat and moisture are released while rain and wetness are kept out. This keeps your horse dry and comfortable without unpleasant heat buildup under the rug.

How easy is the material to care for?

Our rain rugs and winter rugs are very easy to care for and can be machine washed at 30 degrees. This makes cleaning simple and fast. However, we would like to point out that repeated washing can gradually weaken the rug's waterproofing over time. To maintain the waterproof properties and protection of the horse rugs, we recommend regularly retreating the rug or using special waterproofing agents.

What is a lunging rug used for?

A lunging rug protects the horse from moisture, wind, and cold during lunging work without restricting its freedom of movement. It enables consistent training conditions even when the weather is unsettled. This allows the horse to work loosely without tensing its muscles due to external influences like rain or cold.

How visible are the reflective elements in low light or from a distance?

At twilight and in complete darkness, the reflective elements of the lunging rug are extremely visible – even from a great distance. They work on the same principle as safety vests in cars, ensuring maximum visibility and safety for your horse. A phone flash or a phone flashlight is sufficient to make the reflective elements clearly visible.

Can the lunging rug improve the horse’s back movement?

Indirectly, yes. When cold or moisture are eliminated, the horse does not need to react with protective reflexes and can swing through its back more quickly. This often leads to a more relaxed, efficient movement pattern.
