With SUNRIDE, you don't need to read up on which rugs are compatible with our system, because all of our outer rugs – whether winter, rain, or stable rugs – are equipped with “Hook&Hold.” This means you can attach one or even two under-rugs at any time and without any effort. Is the “Hook&Hold” system compatible with rugs from other manufacturers?

Our innovative combination technology has been specifically developed for our own outer and under-rugs and is therefore not compatible with rugs from other manufacturers. This is the only way we can ensure that all parts fit together perfectly and function reliably – for maximum comfort and safety for your horse.

How exactly does the EasyLock fastener work?

The EasyLock fastener from SUNRIDE enables quick and easy fastening of the outdoor rug: the two parts of the fastener are plugged together until they click securely into place. To open, press the side release, which allows the fastener to detach easily. The robust and glove-friendly mechanism ensures a reliable hold and maximum user-friendliness – ideal for everyday use!

Is the EasyLock fastener safe for horses?

Yes, the EasyLock fastener is absolutely safe for horses. It was specially developed to minimize the risk of injury: all edges are rounded, and the fastener lies flat so that it does not chafe or cause discomfort. Thanks to its sturdy construction, it does not come undone by itself, and the positioning of the fastener on the rain rug is chosen so that snagging is virtually impossible. Your horse can move safely and freely with it!

What does “1200D Ripstop” mean and why is it important?

1200D refers to the strength and weave of the rain rug. It stands for the material density of the fabric, with “D” standing for denier, a unit of measurement for the thickness of the fibers. Ripstop describes a special weaving technique in which reinforced fibers are woven into a grid pattern. This structure prevents small tears from spreading, making the outdoor rug more durable and resistant to damage. These properties are particularly important to ensure that the paddock rug lasts a long time and is not easily damaged, even under heavy use, e.g., when kept in a pasture or with horses that move a lot.

Is a water column of 5,000 mm sufficient for persistent rain?

Yes, a water column of 5,000 mm is absolutely sufficient for persistent rain. A water column indicates how much water pressure per square meter the fabric can withstand before it penetrates. With 5,000 mm, the 0g rain rug reliably protects against heavy and long-lasting rain. In practice, this means that the turnout rug remains water-repellent even in intense rain and keeps the horse dry.

What does ISO certified mean?

An ISO certification for a horse rug means that the product meets certain international standards established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This certification ensures that the horse rugs have been tested in various areas such as quality, safety, and environmental compatibility. For rain rugs, this could mean, for example, that the material is waterproof and breathable, the outdoor rug has passed certain durability tests, and the production methods are environmentally friendly. An ISO certification gives customers the assurance that the rain rug is not only functional but also sustainable and of high quality.

How easy to care for is the material?

Our rain rugs, winter rugs, and stable rugs are very easy to care for and can be machine washed at 30 degrees. This makes cleaning uncomplicated and quick. However, we would like to point out that repeated washing can gradually weaken the waterproofing of the horse rugs. To maintain the waterproof quality and protection of the rain rugs, we recommend regularly retreating the outdoor rugs or using special waterproofing agents.

How is breathability ensured?

The breathability of our outdoor rugs is ensured by the Ripstop fabric used, which has an air permeability of 3,000 g/m². This allows moisture and heat to escape from the horse while simultaneously keeping wetness out. This is why it is important that rain rugs do not have a water column exceeding 5,000 mm. A higher water column would impair breathability, causing the horse to sweat quickly under the outdoor rug.

Can moisture or heat build up under the rain rug?

Thanks to the high breathability of our outdoor rugs and the Ripstop fabric technology used, no moisture or heat can build up under the rain rug. The turnout rug allows for effective ventilation, so that excess heat and moisture are released while rain and wetness remain outside. This keeps your horse dry and comfortable without unpleasant heat accumulation under the paddock rug.

Is the neck piece included or must it be purchased separately?

The neck piece is not included in the scope of delivery and must be purchased separately. This gives you the flexibility to decide if and when you need it, and allows you to expand your outdoor rug individually.

How visible are the reflective elements in low light or from a great distance?

In twilight and absolute darkness, the reflective elements of the rain rug are extremely visible – even from a great distance. They work on the same principle as safety vests in cars, thus ensuring maximum visibility and safety for your horse. A mobile phone flash or a mobile phone flashlight is enough to make the reflective elements clearly visible.

• Only use for the intended purpose as a horse rug in the stable or outdoors.
• Check for damage (e.g., tears, defective seams, damaged fasteners, loose straps or eyelets) before each use.
• If damaged or heavily worn, the rug must no longer be used.
• Regularly check the fit to avoid pressure points or chafing.
• Do not use on open wounds or skin injuries of the horse.
• Only apply to a clean, dry horse.
• Do not use chemical cleaning agents or bleach – clean only according to the care label.
• Allow the rug to dry completely after washing before using it again or storing it.
• Do not dry or store near open flames, heat sources, or electrical appliances.
• Do not use as a travel rug or under-rug unless it is intended for such purposes.
