Fly sheets for horses were first developed in the 19th century to protect horses from insect bites and skin irritation, which were a particular problem in pastures during the summer months. At that time, the first fly sheets were mostly made of coarse linen or cotton and were sewn by hand. The modern development towards breathable mesh materials and elastic inserts is a result of advances in textile technology, which have created new possibilities for the production of horse equipment, especially in recent decades.

What is the advantage of this fly rug compared to other models?

This fly rug combines insect protection with maximum freedom of movement and comfort. The elastic neck area in particular ensures that the horse can graze unhindered, while the chest protection prevents chafing and provides additional protection against insects.

Is the fly rug also suitable for sensitive horses?

Yes, the breathable mesh material is gentle on the skin and prevents overheating. In addition, the chest area protects against rubbing.

Why does the fly rug have a fixed neck cover?

The fixed neck cover offers continuous and seamless protection against flies.

Are the leg straps really necessary?

The leg straps ensure a secure fit and prevent the fly rug from slipping – however, you can remove them if needed.

What sizes are available?

The fly rug is available in various sizes, suitable for ponies up to large warmbloods.

Is the fly rug suitable for horses with a broad chest or thick neck?

Yes, the elastic T-front closure and adjustable straps ensure a flexible fit for various body shapes.

Can my horse lie down and roll without problems while wearing the fly rug?

Yes, the fly rug is cut to offer plenty of freedom. The elastic neck area adapts to the horse's movements.

Can I wash the fly rug?

Yes, the fly rug can be easily machine washed. We recommend washing at 30 °C, air drying, and closing the Velcro fasteners before washing.

Is the material tear-resistant?

The mesh fabric is robust and durable, but like all rugs, it should be checked regularly for damage.

• Only use for the intended purpose as a fly rug for horses.
• Check for damage, loose seams, tears, or defective fasteners before each use.
• Do not continue to use the rug if it is damaged or shows signs of significant wear.
• Check the fit regularly to avoid pressure points or chafing.
• Do not leave on the horse unattended, especially in the pasture or stable, if there is an increased risk of snagging.
• Do not make unauthorized alterations or repairs to the product.
• Only use on a clean, dry horse.
• Do not use in the rain or as protection against wet conditions.
• Clean only according to the care label – do not use chemical cleaning agents, bleach, or solvents.
• Allow to dry completely after cleaning before the rug is used again or stored.
• Do not store or dry near open flames, heat sources, or chemical substances.
