a particularly thick saddle pad does not automatically mean more comfort? Additional material thickness changes the distance between the horse's back and the saddle and can therefore even influence how the saddle fits. Especially when jumping, balanced padding that protects without unnecessarily changing the seat is therefore sensible.

What is the difference between a jumping saddle pad and a dressage saddle pad?

The most important difference lies in the cut. A jumping saddle pad is adapted to the forward-cut flaps of a jumping saddle, while a dressage saddle pad is cut straighter and follows the shape of a dressage saddle.

How should a jumping saddle pad be positioned correctly under the saddle?

It should lie smooth and wrinkle-free and be pulled up into the gullet of the saddle at the withers. This keeps the sensitive area clear and ensures the saddle pad is not pulled taut over the withers.

Why can a jumping saddle pad slide backwards while riding?

An incorrectly positioned saddle pad, a lack of fixation, or even issues with saddle fit can cause it to shift. If a saddle pad consistently moves significantly despite correctly fastened billet straps and girth loops, the fit of the saddle should therefore also be checked.

Why is a mesh insert particularly useful for jump training?

Canter work and repeated jumping can lead to increased heat and sweat accumulation under the saddle. The mesh area supports air circulation precisely in that area and helps to dissipate heat and moisture more quickly.

Why is balanced padding useful when jumping?

Too much additional material can alter the position of a correctly fitted saddle. Balanced padding provides comfort and reduces friction without adding unnecessary volume between the horse's back and the jumping saddle.

When is a saddle pad enough, and when is an additional correction pad useful?

With a correctly fitting saddle, a well-seated saddle pad is generally sufficient. An additional correction pad can be useful to compensate for minor fit discrepancies, specifically influence pressure distribution, or account for temporary changes in the horse's back.
