Did you know that...
the horse's neck is much more than just a connection between the head and the body? It acts as a dynamic balance system and, through its position, also influences the movement of the rest of the body. On a circle, the load and movement patterns also change compared to a straight line. This is precisely why correct training with a cavesson can be so valuable: position, bend, and balance can be developed without necessarily having to exert influence via the horse's mouth.

FAQ
What is the difference between a cavesson and a standard halter?
A halter is primarily intended for leading, tying, and everyday handling. A cavesson, on the other hand, is a training tool for lunging and groundwork. Thanks to the attachment options on the noseband, aids can be transmitted more precisely to the horse's head without necessarily having to exert pressure via a bit. The FN also explicitly lists the cavesson as equipment for groundwork.
Why is a cavesson particularly suitable for lunging?
The lunge line can be attached directly to the cavesson, allowing for contact with the horse's head without having to pull on the bit. This makes it possible to work on positioning, bending, and changes of direction more effectively. The FEI also identifies the lunging cavesson as suitable equipment for lunging and describes it as a bitless alternative to the bridle.
Can the cavesson be used entirely without a bit?
Yes. That is precisely one of its major advantages. You can lunge your horse and work from the ground bitless. If you would like to use a bit as well later on, detachable bit hangers can be added to this model.
How should a cavesson fit correctly?
The noseband should lie on the stable area of the nasal bone and not sit too low. At the same time, the cavesson must be adjusted so that it does not slide significantly during lateral aids without constricting the horse's head. A correctly fitted noseband should also leave sufficient space and not impair breathing.
Which ring is used for lunging?
For classic lunging, the lunge line is usually attached to the middle ring on the noseband. This ensures that the lunge line acts centrally on the cavesson, and the head is not guided one-sidedly via the bit during a change of direction. The other rings expand the possibilities for in-hand work and other forms of training.
Why can a cavesson be useful for young horses?
With a cavesson, basic exercises such as leading, stopping, changing direction, lunging, and initial work on positioning and bending can be developed without the need for action to necessarily take place via the sensitive horse's mouth. The FN accordingly describes the cavesson as equipment for basic and advanced in-hand work.
What exercises can I do with the cavesson?
In addition to lunging, it is suitable for versatile ground and in-hand work. Depending on the level of training, you can work on things like distance leading, positioning and bending, transitions, and preparatory lateral movements. The FN also explicitly covers work with the cavesson, from basic leading exercises to advanced in-hand work.
What are the included reins for?
The reins extend the use of the cavesson beyond groundwork and also enable riding. A bit can be attached using the detachable bit hangers, allowing the cavesson to be used as a bridle. This is particularly practical for training young horses, as groundwork, lunging, and initial work under saddle can be built up using a familiar bridle.
Security Information
- Use only as intended as a headpiece for connecting the bit, reins, and horse.
- Check for material fatigue, cracks, loose seams, or defective hardware before each use.
- Do not continue to use the bridle if it is damaged or shows significant wear.
- Check the fit regularly to prevent pressure points or chafing.
- Do not fasten too tightly – ensure sufficient freedom of movement in the mouth, nose, and poll areas.
- Replace defective metal parts (e.g., buckles, rings, snap hooks) immediately.
- Do not make unauthorized repairs or modifications.
- Clean and condition leather parts regularly to prevent drying out, material breakage, or deformation.
- Allow wet leather to dry at room temperature – do not place on radiators or in direct sunlight.
- Do not store near open flames or strong heat sources.
- Use only with a suitable bit that fits the horse in size and shape.
- Do not use for tying up or securing purposes.
- Clean only with suitable cleaning agents; do not use bleach or solvents.

Description
- Extra padding - comfortable even during extended ground work: The softly padded areas distribute pressure more evenly and reduce friction. This allows the leather cavesson to sit comfortably on the horse's head, even during longer sessions on the lunge or in hand.
- Anatomical fit - follows the contours of the horse's head: The shape accounts for sensitive areas and supports a steady, stable fit. This allows for more precise aids without the cavesson slipping unnecessarily during flexion and bending.
- Supports balance and coordination - targeted work on natural body control: On curved lines, your horse must constantly reorganize its balance. Using the cavesson, you can specifically work on flexion and bending, helping your horse to balance its body more consciously. The neck and head, in particular, play an important role in balance and coordination.
- Soft genuine leather - stable with pleasant flexibility: The high-quality natural material combines the necessary dimensional stability with suppleness against the horse's head. With proper care, the leather remains flexible and develops an especially pleasant feel over time.
- Handcrafted - precisely manufactured for subtle aids: Clean seams, resilient connections, and carefully placed hardware ensure that the cavesson functions reliably even during regular lunging and ground work.
- Rust-proof stainless steel hardware - durable and reliable: The corrosion-resistant rings and buckles remain functional even when exposed to sweat and moisture and are designed for regular training loads.
- Easy to clean - permanently supple and well-maintained: Dust and sweat can be easily removed after training. Regular leather care protects the genuine leather from drying out and maintains its flexibility.
- Multiple rings for versatile training - from lunging to in-hand work: The various attachment options make the cavesson versatile. Depending on the exercise, you can attach the lunge line, reins, or other suitable training equipment accordingly and adapt the aids specifically to your work.
- Detachable bit hangers - work bitless or add a bit: The hooks can be attached as needed, allowing for the use of a bit. This way, you can start working your horse via the cavesson and later flexibly adapt the equipment to the horse's level of training and goals.
- With reins - equipped directly for versatile ground work: Matching reins are already included, extending the use of the cavesson beyond classic lunging. This allows you to perform in-hand work and preparatory exercises from the ground, among other things.
- Practical storage bag - neatly stored and quickly at hand: The matching bag protects your equipment from dust and dirt when not in use and ensures tidy storage in the stable, locker, or horse trailer. At the same time, you can keep the products compactly together and take them along conveniently for training or competitions.
