In a clipped horse, a large part of this natural mechanism is lost. This is why the same 150g winter rug may be appropriate for a clipped horse at significantly higher temperatures, whereas an unclipped horse with a thick winter coat requires much less additional insulation.

For which horses is a 150g winter rug particularly suitable?

A 150g filling provides medium thermal performance and is suitable for all horses, but especially for those that need extra insulation in cool winter weather. For clipped, older, lean, or cold-sensitive horses, it may be useful even in milder temperatures. The individual horse, its housing, wind, wet conditions, and existing winter coat are always the deciding factors.

How do I know if 150g is enough for my horse?

Check regularly under the rug, ideally behind the withers. Your horse should feel pleasantly warm and dry. Cold skin, shivering, or increased seeking of shelter may indicate insufficient warmth. Conversely, sweating, damp skin, or excessive heat suggest too much insulation.

What can I do if the 150g filling is no longer sufficient in colder weather?

Thanks to the Hook&Hold system, you can add a compatible SUNRIDE under-rug to flexibly increase the thermal performance. The under-rug is attached at the front with a loop and Velcro fastener and at the back with clips, ensuring it remains securely connected to the winter rug. This allows you to adjust the warmth according to the weather without having to layer several loose rugs on top of each other. Is a 2500D winter rug indestructible?

No. Even a very robust outer fabric can be damaged by sharp edges, nails, teeth, or strong tension. 2500D significantly increases durability, but it still does not replace regular inspections of the rug, fasteners, stable, and paddock area.

What does a water column of 5,000 mm mean?

The water column indicates the water pressure that the material can withstand under defined test conditions before water penetrates. 5,000 mm offers a high level of weather protection for daily outdoor use. At the same time, breathability ensures that water vapor can escape from the horse's body to the outside.

What is the advantage of the EasyLock closure over classic chest closures?

The EasyLock closure lies particularly flat against the chest area and has as few protruding elements as possible. This reduces the number of points where your horse could get caught on things like hay nets, fences, or other objects. At the same time, it creates a stable fit on the chest.

When is an additional neck cover useful?

A neck cover can provide extra protection in heavy rain, wind, or low temperatures. Clipped or cold-sensitive horses, in particular, can benefit from it. In milder weather, the Liverpool can continue to be used without a neck cover. Excessive coverage should be avoided if it causes the horse to become too warm.
